Jewelry Repair & Restoration

Jewelry gets worn. Prongs loosen. Stones crack. Rings get bent. Turquoise can chip. Chains break. Sometimes a piece simply needs a little attention after years of being loved.

At Prairie Sky Jewelry Co., we repair and restore jewelry with the same care and craftsmanship we put into making it.

At Prairie Sky Jewelry Co., we repair and restore jewelry in our working studio in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. We work on everything from fine jewelry and everyday pieces to vintage, antique, Native American, turquoise, and heirloom jewelry.

And if you aren't nearby, that's okay.

Send Your Jewelry to Us

We accept mail-in jewelry repairs from across the country.

Start by submitting our online repair request and sending us a few photos of your piece. We'll help you determine the next step and, when we're ready to see the jewelry in person, walk you through the process of getting it safely to our studio.

You don't have to live in Oklahoma, you don't have to have purchased it from us, & you don't have to know exactly what it needs.

How Our Mail-In Jewelry Repair Works

 1. Start Online

Submit our repair request with information about your jewelry and what you'd like us to look at.

Photos are helpful and can give us a starting point, but they don't always tell the whole story.

 2. We'll Review Your Piece

We'll look at the information you've provided and determine whether we can likely help.

For more complicated repairs, we may need to see the jewelry in person before giving you a final repair recommendation or price.

 3. Mail Your Jewelry to Our Studio

Once we're ready for the piece, we'll provide instructions for sending your jewelry to Prairie Sky.

We recommend using a secure, trackable shipping method with appropriate insurance for the value of your jewelry.

Never mail valuable jewelry without first contacting us and receiving shipping instructions.

 4. We Evaluate the Jewelry

Once your piece arrives, we'll inspect the metal, stones, settings, construction, existing damage, and previous repairs. This is especially important with vintage, antique, Native American, and handmade jewelry.

We'll explain what we believe the jewelry needs, what options are available, and what the repair will cost.

 6. We Repair It in Our Studio

Once approved, your jewelry goes onto our bench for repair or restoration.

 7. We Send It Home

After the repair is complete and the piece has been inspected, we'll safely return your jewelry to you.

REPAIR SERVICES WE OFFER:

Ring Repair & Restoration

We offer ring resizing, repair of bent or damaged rings, broken band and shank repair or replacement, prong repair and rebuilding, head replacement, bezel and setting repair, gallery and under-gallery repair, soldering, stone replacement, structural restoration, refinishing, and polishing.

If your ring is worn thin, bent out of shape, missing a prong, or simply needs some attention, we'll evaluate the piece and recommend the appropriate repair.

Stone Replacement

A missing or damaged stone doesn't necessarily mean the end of a piece of jewelry.

We replace stones in rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, and other jewelry whenever the setting can be safely repaired or adapted.

We work with diamonds, lab-grown diamonds, moissanite, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, turquoise, opal, quartz, amethyst, garnet, citrine, topaz, and many other gemstones, as well as a wide variety of cabochons.

We can help source a replacement that closely matches the original, or help you choose something completely different.

Turquoise & Cabochon Repair

This is one of the things we do differently.

Turquoise jewelry requires a different kind of knowledge and a different approach than repairing a standard diamond ring.

We work with turquoise and other cabochon-set jewelry, including Native American jewelry, Southwestern jewelry, vintage turquoise pieces, and handmade jewelry.

If a turquoise stone is missing, cracked, damaged, or no longer fits its setting properly, we'll evaluate the piece and determine the best way forward.

Custom-Cut Cabochons

Sometimes an off-the-shelf stone simply won't work.

We have the ability to custom cut cabochons to fit existing jewelry settings.

This can be especially valuable when restoring an older or unusual piece where the setting was originally made for a particular stone.

Rather than changing the entire piece to accommodate whatever stone happens to be available, we can sometimes create a cabochon specifically for the setting.

Native American Jewelry Repair

We welcome Native American and Southwestern jewelry repairs.

At Prairie Sky, many of these repairs are handled by Bean Lewis, our Native American bench jeweler, who brings his own experience, knowledge, and craftsmanship to the work. He works with sterling silver, turquoise, traditional stone settings, handmade pieces, and older Native American jewelry.

We understand that these pieces can carry considerably more than monetary value. They may represent family, heritage, a particular artist, a place, or a story passed down through generations.

Our goal isn't to make an old piece look brand new. It's to repair what needs repairing while preserving what makes the piece itself.

We take particular care with older jewelry, handmade construction, unusual settings, and pieces where preserving the original appearance matters. When a repair involves an especially old, handmade, or historically significant piece, we take the time to understand how it was made before deciding how it should be repaired.

Vintage & Antique Jewelry Restoration

Older jewelry often requires a different approach than modern jewelry. Vintage and antique pieces may have thinner metal, hand-fabricated components, unusual construction, worn settings, previous repairs, or stones that are no longer commonly used.

We can evaluate vintage and antique jewelry for broken or worn bands, loose or missing stones, worn prongs, damaged settings, broken solder joints, missing components, chain and clasp repairs, stone replacement, structural reinforcement, resizing, restoration, and refinishing. Every piece is evaluated individually, with consideration given to its age, construction, condition, and original character.

Sometimes the best repair is the least visible one.

 Fine Jewelry Repair

We repair gold, silver, platinum, and other precious-metal jewelry, including engagement rings, wedding bands, diamond jewelry, gemstone jewelry, heirloom pieces, and everyday fine jewelry.

Depending on the piece, our repair work may include prong repair and rebuilding, head replacement, stone setting and replacement, ring resizing, shank repair, soldering, chain repair, clasp replacement, bezel repair, structural restoration, and refinishing and polishing. Every piece is evaluated individually so we can determine the safest and most appropriate way to repair it while preserving its original character and integrity.

Rebuild & Redesign

Sometimes a piece doesn't need to be repaired—it needs a new life.

If you have an existing engagement ring, wedding ring, or heirloom piece that no longer feels like you, we're happy to work with the materials and stones you already have and rebuild them into one of our designs or create an entirely custom design.

This can be a meaningful way to preserve the diamond, gemstone, or other materials from an existing piece while creating something that better fits your style, your story, or the next chapter of your life. We'll evaluate the existing jewelry and talk with you about what can be safely reused and how we can incorporate it into a new design.

Jewelry Repair for Prairie Sky Pieces

If you purchased your jewelry from Prairie Sky, start with us before taking it somewhere else.

Many repairs to Prairie Sky jewelry may be covered under the applicable warranty or protection plan, depending on the piece and nature of the damage.

Even when a repair isn't covered, we'd still rather see the piece come back to our studio.

We know how our jewelry is constructed, what materials we used, and how the piece was originally made. That matters.

Don't have someone else alter your Prairie Sky piece before talking to us.

And if you aren't local, that's okay. Prairie Sky pieces can be sent to us for mail-in repair and warranty service.

Some jewelry is valuable because of what it's worth. Some is valuable because of who wore it before you.

Heirloom Jewelry Restoration

We love working on pieces that have been passed down through families.

An heirloom doesn't have to be perfect to be worth preserving. Scratches, worn edges, old repairs, and changes in color are often part of its history.

Our approach is to make the jewelry wearable and structurally sound while respecting the character of the original piece.

If you've inherited a piece of jewelry and don't know what it is, how old it is, or whether it's worth repairing, send us some photos or bring it into the studio & we'll take a look.

A Working Jewelry Studio, Not a Repair Counter

One of the things that makes Prairie Sky different is that your jewelry isn't disappearing into some mysterious back room.

Our Pawhuska showroom is connected to our working jewelry studio.

The same kind of environment where we make new jewelry is where we repair and restore old jewelry.

We work with our hands. We fabricate. We solder. We set stones. We shape metal. We work with turquoise and other stones.

That experience matters when you're trying to figure out how to save a piece of jewelry that wasn't made yesterday.

We don't just sell jewelry. We make it, repair it, and understand how it's put together.

At Prairie Sky, we bring the same craftsmanship, attention to detail, and respect for materials to repair and restoration that we bring to every piece we make. From a well-loved wedding ring to a vintage heirloom, a handmade Native American piece, or a turquoise stone that needs to be replaced, we take the time to understand the jewelry before deciding how it should be repaired.

Sometimes the right answer is a careful repair. Sometimes it's a new stone, a custom-cut cabochon, or a complete rebuild using the original materials. Whatever the piece needs, our goal is to preserve what makes it valuable to you while giving it a future you can continue to wear.
